Lord Andrew Adonis

I was born in London in 1963 and educated at Kingham Hill School, a boarding school in Oxfordshire. I studied history at Keble College, Oxford, followed by a PhD in modern history and a fellowship at Nuffield College, Oxford, when I was also elected to Oxford City Council (from 1987 to 1991).

Sarah Evans

Sarah Evans has a business background in finance, management consulting and education.  She has a mix of university degrees from Oxford, Western School of Business, in Canada, and University of Hong Kong in a range of subject areas from management, economics to psychology.  In 2006, she founded Westside School, which is now an academy in Hammersmith, giving 13-16 year old excluded youth a chance to get back on track and obtain their GCSEs.  Almost all Westside students are on Free School Meals, most have learning issues, some are Looked After Children.

Andrew Hunter

Dame Carol Robinson

 

Carol Robinson is a Royal Society Research Professor and Doctor Lee’s Professor of Chemistry Elect at the University of Oxford.  She is recognised for pioneering the use of mass spectrometry for her research into the 3D structure of proteins. Her most recent work is concerned with examining how small molecules, specifically lipids, impact on the structure and function of membrane assemblies.

Prof. Michael Arthur

Professor Michael Arthur is the new President and Provost of University College London.  He was until recently Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds and formerly Professor of Medicine (1992), Head of the School of Medicine (1998-2001) and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences in Southampton (2003-04).   He is a hepatologist with research interests in liver cell biology developed initially at the University of California, San Francisco (1986-1988) and more recently as a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York (2002).

Rachel Carr, OBE is the CEO and co-founder of IntoUniversity. She devised, implemented and managed the education programme at a local community centre between 2002-2007. In 2007 she became CEO of the newly established charity which now has 15 learning centres in London, Nottingham and Bristol and ambitious plans to scale up in other UK cities.

Dominic Fry

Dominic is Director of Communications and Investor Relations at Marks & Spencer. He joined in April 2009 from Tulchan.  Dominic started his career in 1982 working as a consultant for Traverse-Healy & Regester and then Charles Barker.  In 1989 he became Communications Director for AT&T in the UK before moving from there to head up communications for the Channel Tunnel in the mid ‘90s.

Sir Peter Lampl

Sir Peter Lampl, Chairman of the Sutton Trust and of the Education Endowment Foundation

Peter Lampl is founder, chairman and principal funder of the Sutton Trust which aims to improve social mobility through education. Since 1997 the Trust has published over 160 research studies. It is also a ‘do tank’ initiating and supporting a wide range of programmes from early years through to access to the professions. He has given over £50 million of his personal fortune, and devoted 19 years of service to improving education in the UK.
